Take Me Away: Show Recap

Hey Soul Mates,
what a successful evening. Thanks to everyone who came from far and wide to see our show. The turnout was good and the dancefloor was packed. The band was decked out in purple, magenta and black with matching boutonnieres (at Bryan's suggestion).



My brother, Nate was gracious enough to introduce us and we got right into Fall Out. We spiked the end of Bad Penny Blues with a taste of Kanye West's Gold Digger, which got people fired up. The energy was great for the whole set. We really enjoyed being able to play two Number One's back-to-back. And as I told the audience, it will be fun to play those songs to 80,000 people. It's always a wonderful feeling to hear 100 people sing your song back to you. Thanks for making a musician feel good, Soul Mates. I think everyone's getting the lyrics down very well. The front row in particular was belting 'em out on our current #1, Done Lost My Mind.

Now, the high point of the performance came toward the end when we tried our new cover song. And I'm here to tell you... the wave of energy that surged through the building when people realized we were doing Prince's Let's Go Crazy was amazing. It was the loudest screaming and shouting I've ever had directed at me (for a positive reason at least). So much so that for a moment I had a brain flutter and had to think to remember words I've been singing instinctually for 20 years. What a powerful audience. I think we pulled it off, 'cause you all had nothing but love for us after that. It sho helped that Bryan nailed the guitar parts like I knew he would.

For me the best part about playing Let's Go Crazy was that we followed it with our own song and the vibe didn't ebb at all. I guess we technically got 2 encores. But the official encore was Hold On, I'm Comin'. That's one of Doug's Mom's favorites and since she was there, it was fun to sing it to her. Plus Doug does an amazing job singing the backup on that one during the call and response section.

I hope all of you got your copy of the EP. It was a CD release show after all. We had a few left over, so we'll make those available to those of you who (ahem) didn't get one last night. I trust that those of you with the new gear will be representing RHS out on the streets of LA. Plus the EP will be on CD Baby shortly and of course, iTunes and the like. Please be sure to tell your friends and feel free to drop a testimonial or review here or on myspace. We'd love to get feedback from the people we made this record for.

We are still feeling out our show offers for the next two months. I'll be sure to let you know when we have something booked. We got some really sweet offers last night after the show. In the meantime, we'll get the pictures up soon & you can tune into iRadio to hear us on the charts. Oh, I did get to meet Jennifer Wicks from Indie Airplay. She's a supersweet gal and I can't thank her enough for championing our music.
